Financial Wisdom for Every Season

Since 2018, we've been helping Australians master the art of seasonal budget adjustments and build lasting financial confidence through practical education and genuine expertise.

Our Beginning

drelvianoraq started when our founder noticed something troubling during tax season 2018 – too many families were caught off guard by predictable expenses. Christmas spending, back-to-school costs, even winter energy bills seemed to surprise people year after year.

We realized the problem wasn't lack of income or poor intentions. People simply weren't thinking seasonally about their money. Traditional budgeting advice treats every month the same, but real life doesn't work that way.

That insight became our mission: teach practical seasonal budgeting that actually works with Australian family rhythms, not against them.

What began as weekend workshops in Auburn has grown into comprehensive financial education programs. But our approach remains unchanged – we focus on real-world application over theoretical perfection.

What Makes Us Different

Australian-Focused Approach

Our programs align with Australian financial seasons – from January holiday recovery to June tax planning. We understand EOFY pressures, school term expenses, and how the Australian climate affects spending patterns throughout the year.

Practical Over Perfect

We don't promise overnight transformations or perfect budgets. Instead, we teach sustainable habits that improve gradually. Most of our students see meaningful progress within three to four months, not three weeks.

Real Experience

Our team has worked through recessions, interest rate changes, and unexpected life events. We share strategies that have been tested during both good times and challenging periods – not just theoretical concepts.

Meet Our Leadership

Real people with real experience helping families navigate financial challenges

Marcus Thornfield, founder and lead educator at drelvianoraq

Marcus Thornfield

Founder & Lead Educator

Marcus spent twelve years as a financial planner before founding drelvianoraq in 2018. He noticed clients needed education more than products – particularly around managing seasonal financial challenges that seemed to catch everyone by surprise.

His background includes working with families through the 2008 financial crisis and the early pandemic period. Those experiences shaped his belief that financial resilience comes from understanding patterns, not following perfect formulas.

When he's not developing curriculum, Marcus volunteers with community financial literacy programs and enjoys hiking the Blue Mountains with his two teenage sons.

Our Teaching Philosophy

1

Start Where You Are

We don't judge past financial decisions or expect students to completely overhaul their lives. Every program begins with your current situation and builds from there.

2

Focus on Systems

Rather than temporary fixes, we teach systems that work long-term. Students learn to anticipate seasonal expenses and adjust their approaches as life circumstances change.

3

Real-World Application

Every concept we teach gets tested in real situations. Students practice with their actual income and expenses, not hypothetical examples that don't match their lives.

4

Ongoing Support

Learning doesn't stop when the course ends. We maintain connections with graduates and provide resources for new challenges that emerge over time.

Looking Forward

This year marks significant growth for drelvianoraq. We're expanding our program offerings and working with more community organizations to reach families who can benefit from seasonal budgeting education.

Our upcoming autumn 2025 programs will include new modules on managing variable income and preparing for life transitions – two areas where seasonal thinking makes an enormous difference.

We're also developing online resources for regional Australian families who can't attend our Auburn location but want access to culturally relevant financial education.

Community Connection

Being based in Auburn gives us deep connections to Western Sydney's diverse communities. We understand the unique financial pressures facing families in this region – from housing costs to transportation expenses.

Our programs reflect this understanding. We don't assume everyone has the same financial starting point or faces identical challenges. Cultural sensitivity and practical flexibility guide everything we develop.

Through partnerships with local community centers and schools, we've reached over 800 families since 2018. Each program group teaches us something new about effective financial education in real-world settings.

Why Seasonal Budgeting Works

Traditional budgeting assumes consistent monthly expenses, but Australian family life follows seasonal patterns. School holidays, sporting seasons, weather changes, and cultural celebrations all create predictable financial rhythms.

When families learn to anticipate these patterns instead of reacting to them, financial stress decreases significantly. Students report feeling more prepared and less overwhelmed by expenses they used to consider unexpected.

This approach doesn't require perfect planning or complex spreadsheets. It's about developing awareness and building simple systems that match how families actually live and spend.
